Eloping in Tasmania: Sandy and Mick’s Glorious Day at Home Hill Winery

Crafting a Dream Elopement

Sandy and Mick, the nicest couple from New South Wales, had one simple wish: to elope in beautiful Tasmania. They wanted a day that felt intimate, relaxed, and full of love. Their dream was to find a winery with either on-site accommodation or nearby options. Home Hill Winery & Cottage in the Huon Valley turned out to be the perfect choice.

The Perfect Spot: Home Hill Winery

Home Hill has a special something that draws in wine fans and romantics. It's tucked away in the Huon Valley, 30 minutes from Hobart. The whole place has a super pretty setting that's hard to resist.

The wines are pretty special, too!

Tassie Weather

The sun was out; okay, it was a bit chilly, but that's why we busted out the thermals.

The chilly weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits but rather added to the coziness of the day.

A Ceremony to Remember

Mick and Sandy’s ceremony kicked off with a stunning "first look" moment that was super emotional.

With 1927’s ‘If I Could’ playing, courtesy of my sidekick Deft and his Spotify playlist.

Hand in hand, side by side, our lovers made their entrance into the ceremony space.

The ceremony was simple and perfect. It was intimate, heartfelt, and true to their love story.

Laughter mingled with tears as Sandy and Mick exchanged vows. Their words blended heartfelt promises, inside jokes, and personal anecdotes. True to form, the couple sprinkled in some playful sass, much to my (and photographer Marty’s) amusement.

The connection these two have is one of a kind.

They exchanged personalised handmade rings, (Sandy you’re a gem), promising to be lifelong lovers. A special moment came when we included their fur boy Bear into their joint promises.

Time to Celebrate - “You Are Married”

A kiss sealed the deal as Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" played. It was a perfect song choice for their resilient love.

The Perfect Story Ending

Sandy and Mick attended the same high school. Mick was unaware of Sandy’s existence, and that one day, she would become his wife.

Virtually connecting later in life, and a cruise sailing, “sealing their deal” in more ways than one.

The Perfect Ceremony Ending

Memories of Us" by Keith Urban played softly as we signed their marriage documents.

With the formalities out of the way, Mick and Sandy took time out to chill.

Enjoying the stunning views at Home Hill Winery with a refreshing glass of HH Sparkling.

HH's head chef Mark, had crafted a romantic Tasmanian produce dinner for two in the cottage.

The “perfect” ending, to a “perfect” elopement, in “perfect” Tasmania.

Bonus Points for Tassie

Sandy and Mick loved the Huon Valley so much that they decided to ask if they could stay an extra night at the cottage.

They didn’t want to leave! After their elopement, the newlyweds explored our magnificent state for a few weeks.

In their words…… what Mick and Sandy said……

“Suse! Thanks again. Omg, it was amazing 🥰 I can't thank you and everyone enough for making yesterday so perfect. It was so much more beautiful and special than we ever imagined it would be ❤️”
