Top Questions to Ask Your Wedding Celebrant in Hobart Before Booking
Hey lovers! Planning your wedding is exciting. But it raises many questions - especially about finding the right celebrant. I’m all about keeping things relaxed, personal and stress-free. Whether you’re going traditional, keeping it chill or doing something totally unique, I’ve got you.
Here are some common questions that may help you know what is important when booking your wedding celebrant.
What’s your style as a celebrant?
Every marriage celebrant has their own vibe. It's important to find one whose style suits your vision. This could be a formal, relaxed or completely out-of-the-box ceremony. Ask about their approach. Do they like to use humour, storytelling or a traditional format?
What I offer: My style is all about making the ceremony reflect you as a couple and be full of your own personal touches. I’ll work with you to make sure the vibe fits the day you’re looking for.

Are you available on our date, and do you travel?
First things first - check if the celebrant is available on your chosen date. If you plan to marry outside their usual area, ask if they will travel and if there are any extra costs.
What I offer: I service all of Tasmania and love travelling to different venues across the state. Whether you’re tying the knot in Hobart or somewhere more remote, I’m in!
What’s included in your price?
Celebrants’ fees can vary, so it’s important to ask what’s included. Do they charge extra for travel, meetings or ceremony preparation? Will they take care of all the legal paperwork, or is that a separate cost?
What I offer: My wedding celebrant services fee includes everything. It covers meetings, ceremony prep, travel within Tasmania and all legal paperwork.
How flexible can we be with the ceremony?
Some celebrants will adapt the ceremony to your wishes. Others may have a set structure. Ask if you can personalise your vows. Can you skip some traditions, like aisle entrances? Can you add cultural or religious elements? Ensure they clarify the legal requirements.
What I offer: I'm all about flexibility! You can personalise every part of the ceremony (apart from the legal bits, however, here I can also suggest permissible wording changes to fit your relationship). I'll work with you to ensure your ceremony is truly yours, from vows to entrances to cultural traditions and including loved ones.
How will you help us prepare for the ceremony?
It’s worth asking how much support the marriage celebrant offers leading up to the big day. Do they help with writing vows, structuring the ceremony and answering your questions? Check if they offer rehearsal tips or extra resources to help you prepare.
What I offer: I guide you through the whole process. This includes helping with your vows and running a rehearsal if you want one. I’m always here to answer questions. I want you to feel confident and comfortable.

How often will we meet before the wedding?
Some celebrants might meet with you once, or not at all, before the big day. Others prefer a few catch-ups. It's helpful to know if they offer in-person meetings, video calls or other ways to discuss the ceremony.
What I offer: I love to meet in person or over Zoom as much as possible to really get a feel for who you are as a couple. This helps me create a ceremony that’s truly personal and meaningful.
Can we include cultural elements or traditions in the ceremony?
If you’re hoping to include any cultural or other elements, ask if the celebrant is open to that. Ensure they're flexible and can accommodate these key details in your ceremony.
What I offer: I ensure your chosen traditions are woven into the ceremony. I’ll work with you to make sure it’s just right.
Do you work closely with other vendors?
A celebrant's ties with other wedding vendors can affect the day's flow. Ask if they work with your photographer, videographer or coordinator. This will ensure the ceremony and day flow seamlessly.
What I offer: I love teaming up with other vendors to keep things running smoothly. Also, if you want, I can recommend some great vendors. I have a trusted network of friendors. Including florists, photographers, venues, hair stylists and makeup artists.
What happens if you are unavailable on the day?
Life happens, so it’s important to ask what the celebrant’s backup plan is if something comes up. Do they have a network of other celebrants who can step in if they can’t make it on the day?
What I offer: I always have a backup plan with trusted celebrants who can take over in case of an emergency. You will never find yourself left in the lurch.
Do you offer a rehearsal before the wedding?
Some wedding celebrants offer a rehearsal to calm nerves and ensure everyone knows what to do. Others may not. Check if they include this in their service or offer it at an extra cost.
What I offer: I’m happy to run through the ceremony with you beforehand. It helps everyone feel more relaxed and assists with any nerves leading up to and on the big day.
At the end of the day, your wedding is all about you two, and I’m here to make sure it’s done your way - whatever that looks like!
